GF: Who pays the social security costs during the global fellowship?

All items of social security are normally covered under the researchers costs through the payment of national employer’s and employee’s social security contributions and the fellow is normally covered through this in the third country.

However in some cases, the national social security scheme provided by the country of the beneficiary cannot fully cover the fellow during the outgoing phase of the project because of national legislation or absence of bilateral agreements on social security coordination between the countries involved. In such cases Management and Overheads can be used to cover the additional costs linked to the subscription of complementary social security insurance. This must be negotiated between the beneficiary and the outgoing host in the Partnership Agreement and mentioned in the agreement between the beneficiary and fellow.
